KEF (Co-ordination Forums on Drug Affairs)

NDI with counselling supports the professional and organizational work of so called Co-ordination Forums on Drug Affairs (KEFs) and keeps them informed about related questions. KEFs are local professional consultancy work teams, which were established with the help of local municipalities' commitment, local initiation and by different ministerial tenders. This time around 90 KEFs are operating in Hungary , with competence at the local (towns, cities), districts (in Budapest ), so called »small area«, county and regional level. The main task of KEFs is to harmonize the work in the institutions operating in the field of following four pillars: community – cooperation, prevention, social work-treatment-rehabilitation and supply reduction. To achieve this, KEFs work out local drug strategies to combat drug problem based on the results of local surveys and assessment. They aim to reach standardized professional and methodological approaches and to harmonize and rationalize local activities working on drug prevention and treatment fields. The local public, municipal, voluntary and church organizations are represented in these Forums.
