Summary is needed for developing new strategy but the National Strategy itself also requires assessment about achieved and not realized goals. Development of first strategy started with huge élan. Such momentous professional work, reconciliation has never been in the field of prevention and health promotion on national level. Every stakeholder was able to know and discuss the document. Its receptivity in the parliament was also equally favourable and there was not professional or political debate on it even later. In spite of political changes it has stayed in force. Professionalism on drug affairs has recruited, Hungary joined to the European current on drug affairs. Even on European level significant publish activity has started, civil organizations on drug problem have strengthened, modern dialogues have been started in society.
