Abstract |
Hop out, start up and tune up – Leary preaches. To hop out means to leave the common order or system; starting up is helped by psychedelic experience; tune up means to change lifestyle by inner journeys. According to Leary we can find real ourselves through psychedelic experiences. His essays deserve attention because they work out approaches, viewpoints and cast of mind very expressively and so contributed to develop counter-culture movement - which promoted drug use - in the USA. This later spread over Western European countries and now also countries over the sometime iron curtain. So we have to face Leary's ideas. This way we can get closer to the drug user and we can open new directions in the process of combating drugs. |
