Abstract |
»All struggle of my mind seemed vain to stop collapse of outside world and dissolve of my ego. A demon intruded into me and took power over my body, senses and soul...The substance I wanted to experiment with, beat me...From this point actually I started to enjoy - behind my closed eyes - the incredible play of colours and forms. Brindled, fantastic images surprised me changing like a kaleidoscope, opening and closing in shape of circles and spirals, colour fountains sprang were rearranged and crossed themselves in one unbroken process.« - With these words Albert Hofmann, Swiss chemist described the first conscious self experiment on LSD on the 19th of April, in 1943. From this day LSD have become one of the most controversial chemical substances and radically has changed explorer's and other millions' life. In this classical work of chemistry history Albert Hofmann describes the circumstances of revelation of LSD and tells about meetings with scientists, artists, writers and prominent figures of hippy movement who were interested in different aspects of LSD. |
